NCER Annual Scientific Meeting Agenda


Overall Learning Objectives:

  • Exemplify international leadership in the conduct of high-impact emergency care research by modelling excellence in collaboration, innovation and dissemination (Scholar)
  • Practice effective collaboration with colleagues and interdisciplinary partners  across the nation and beyond to advance shared healthcare goals (Collaborator)
  • Develop and lead initiatives that strengthen research capacity in Canadian emergency care (Leader)
  • Evaluate and apply knowledge translation and exchange strategies to effectively disseminate research findings, ensuring meaningful impact on clinical care, education scholarship, policy decisions, outcomes, and systems of care (Scholar)

Learning objectives for the protocol reviews:

  • Develop and refine the study’s methodology and analytical plan (Scholar)
  • Deliver education to potential sites on the trial and participation requirements (Scholar)
  • Incorporate written feedback from NCER to obtain formal endorsement (Professional)
  • Explain the role of CEDRN and its role with NCER (Scholar)

Learning objectives for the lectures:

  • Network presentations:  describe the potential and process of collaborating with each network to conduct a clinical trial in emergency medicine (Collaborator)
  • Education or QI: Explain how the NCER network facilitates research in education/quality improvement (Scholar)
  • Identify opportunities to collaborate with other research networks (e.g., CEDRN, PERC) (Collaborator)

NCER Membership

All meeting attendees must be a member of NCER (the membership fee is $125). NCER membership must be purchased before you can register for the meeting.

Registration
All EM researchers interested in emergency medicine research, including multi-centre trials, education research, and quality improvement (QI) research are encouraged to attend the meeting.

The meeting registration fee includes 3 breakfasts (Tuesday – Thursday), and dinner on Wednesday, February 4th, courtesy of CAEP.  Spouses and children are invited to attend the dinner, but they must purchase a ticket in advance.

Registration closes January 15, 2026 at 11:59PM ET.

Physician – in-person attendee     $330 (+ NCER membership fee)
Physician – virtual attendee     $330 (+ NCER membership fee)
Non-physician – in-person attendee     $70 (+ NCER membership fee)
Non-physician – virtual attendee     $70 (+ NCER membership fee)

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations received in writing by January 14th, 2026 will be refunded minus a 25% administration fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after January 14th, 2026. Only cancellations received in writing (gsnook@caep.ca) will be processed.


Protocol Presentations 
Protocols will be selected for presentation based on: relevance to EM, appropriateness for a multi-centre trial, and experience level of the presenting author. Protocols accepted for presentation may receive feedback in advance of the meeting to assist in preparation. Please find an example of a protocol presentation hereSample NCER presentation.

Note: You must be a CAEP and NCER Member in order to present a protocol, and you must be registered for the meeting.
